About this event

You may have seen Irish dancing on television or on your trip to Ireland but now you have the chance to experience it up close and in person. Irish dance refers to the traditional dance forms that originate in Ireland, including both solo and group dance forms, for social, competitive, and performance purposes. Irish dance has evolved over centuries and is believed to have its roots in ancient Celtic dance.

Attendees will be invited to step up to learn a few basic dance steps.

Kathleen Lanahan has 48 years of experience in Irish dance. She visited Ireland six times dancing. She has danced in parades, competitions, weddings and even a funeral. She notes “I moved to PA in 1985 so now I dance every Tuesday night at the Irish Center in West Mount Airy.”
